Alaska's Climate and Amish Furniture
Alaska's climate is horrible for Amish furniture. The winters are extrmely cold though the summers aren't to hot. The humidity levels are very dry for the furniture build by the Amish. This means that you have to run a humidifier all the time. If you dont it will split and crack!Around the coast in places like Anchorage, Nome or Juneau thing shouldn't be to bad when the temperature is above 40 degrees. If your in the interior of Alsaka in places like Fairbanks, Coldfoot or Bethel you should run a humidifier year round.
Features of Amish Furniture
- All of our drawers boxes are made of a solid hardwoods that have true English Dovetails front and back. The drawer front is actually attached to the box.
- The backs of all our case goods are constructed of 1/4 inch plywood that is recessed into the back so that it is flush .
- Only kiln dried Northern Hardwoods are used in the manufacturing of our furniture.
- Some of our Amish furniture is constructed with High Quality furniture grade plywood on the side to prevent splitting, warping and cracking
- Raised panels on the doors and side are a 5 piece solid wood construction.
- All of our Dining Room Tables come standard with 1" thick solid wood tops. No particle board or veneers.
- All our chairs legs are attached with glue and screws or mortise and tenon construction .
- A wide selection of stain and paint options including custom stain matches where needed.
- All of our furniture has 2 Coats of Resistovar II Finish.
